First, remove the sim card holder. second remove the battery by pulling up on the battery tab. next, remove the buzzer by unscrewing the two screws holding it in place and lift up. next remove the five screws at the top of the phone and remove the ribbon cover. next, lift up on the 5 tabs connected to the motherboard. next unscrew the large screw near the tabs at the top of the motherboard. next, remove the water indicator in the middle of the phone and remove the screw below it. next, remove the two screws holding the metal plate down in the middle of the phone. next remove the metal plate and remove the cable connected to the motherboard. next remove the two screws at the bottom of the phone. next remove the camera tab and pull up on the camera. next remove the small connector at the bottom of the iPhone. next remove the motherboard by pulling up slightly. next remove the 10 screws holding the screen in. next use your case opener tool to remove the screen from the chassis. please perform the previous steps at your own risk. the phones components are very fragile.

Once the black cover and screen are removed you will need to prepare your white parts. the screen/digitizer/lcd assembly will need to use the mesh grill from the old screen for the new one. Also make sure that the back cover you acquire has the rail/plastic frame attached to it. After making sure the above steps are complete, reassemble the iPhone with the white parts indicated above.

This is a very difficult process, but will solve many frustrations for those iPhone users who just can't wait for the white model to be released.

There are several other conversion colors available through aftermarket repair shops; however, be careful not to use non-apple certified items as they immediately void the warranty.

Police Missteps Cloud Case

An examination of the Sanford Police Department's handling of the case shows a series of missteps — including sloppy work — and circumstances beyond its control that may make it harder to pursue a case that is already difficult enough.

As the second-degree murder case against the defendant, George Zimmerman, moves from the glare of a public spectacle to the grinding procedures of the court system and eventual trial, the department's performance, roundly criticized by Martin's family as bungling and biased, will be scrutinized once again.

With doubts shadowing the quality and scope of the police work, the prosecution and the defense will be left to tackle critical questions even as they debate the evidence. And ultimately, what happened on the rainy night of Feb. 26 may come to rest on the word of one man, Zimmerman, the 28-year-old neighborhood watch volunteer who fired the fatal shot.

In interviews during several weeks, law enforcement authorities, witnesses and local elected officials identified problems with the initial investigation:

On the night of the shooting, door-to-door canvassing was not exhaustive enough, said a law enforcement official familiar with the investigation. If officers had been more thorough, they might have determined that Martin, 17, was a guest — as opposed to an intruder — at a gated community called the Retreat at Twin Lakes. Investigators found no witnesses who saw the fight start. others saw parts of a struggle they could not clearly observe or hear. One witness, though, provided information to the police that corroborated Zimmerman's account of the struggle, according to a law enforcement official.

There was only one photo taken by the police at the scene of any of Zimmerman's injuries — a full-face picture of him that showed a bloodied nose — before paramedics tended to him. it was shot on a department cellphone camera and was not downloaded for a few days, an oversight by the officer who took it.

The vehicle that Zimmerman was driving when he first spotted Martin mistakenly was not secured by officers as part of the crime scene.

The police did not cover the crime scene to shield evidence from the rain, and any blood from cuts that Zimmerman suffered when he said Martin pounded his head into a sidewalk may have been washed away.

The police did not test Zimmerman for alcohol or drug use that night, and one witness said the lead investigator quickly jumped to a conclusion that it was Zimmerman, and not Martin, who cried for help during the struggle.

Some Sanford officers were skeptical from the beginning about certain details of Zimmerman's account. For instance, he told the police that Martin had punched him repeatedly, but they questioned whether his injuries were consistent with the number of blows he claimed he received.

The Sanford police — who contended that their 16-day investigation was detailed and impartial — also encountered other obstacles. One involved the investigators' inability to get the password for Martin's cellphone from his family, who apparently did not know it. that was significant because Martin had been talking to a girl on the phone moments before he was killed.

KDDI starts fee-based movie and TV show service for smartphones

Telecommunications giant KDDI started a fee-based movie and TV show service for smartphones on may 15, following a similar service by NTT Docomo.

KDDI's service, called "Video Pass," offers viewing of around 3,000 television dramas, movies, and animations for 590 yen per month. NTT Docomo's service "Video Store," running since November of last year, costs 525 yen a month and has more than one million contracted customers.

As cell phone providers continue to introduce such fee-based video services, competition is expected to heat up with video-on-demand services offered by cable and satellite television providers.

The smartphones that can use the service are around 20 models sold since February 2011. The service requires downloading of a specialized application. by connecting the smartphone to a television with a cable, downloaded videos can also be watched on a television screen.

Additionally, from June, KDDI will start a different service offering downloads of over 1 million songs for 315 yen a month. however, for now, neither of the services supports Apple's popular iPhone.

As the usage of smartphones spreads, cell phone companies are viewing video downloads and application sales as good potential revenue sources, in addition to regular usage fees. KDDI President Takashi Tanaka has said, "We want to change the way movies and music are enjoyed."
